Mark Dancigers Grand Electric

The Dancigers project "Grand Electric" is a piano-guitar album which Jesse and Kyle recorded in 2019. They finished most of the editing and about half of the mixing (in Kyle’s Roslindale dining room, no less!), before COVID-19 interrupted the production process. The album was picked up again during the second half of 2021, and was finished in remote correspondence between Mark, Jesse, and Kyle. 

Guitar was Kyle’s primary instrument as a performer, which gave him an instant connection to the repertoire and fostered easy communication with Mark, particularly as they worked remotely. The music itself is an impressionistic meditation on the symmetry between the two instruments. Mark’s guitar playing balances against Aaron Wunsch’s naturally larger piano sound through an exploration of tone and effect. While there is only ever one piano, there may be two or three unique guitar gestures at any time. The result is three uniquely fractal, seemingly infinite sonic landscapes.
