Caroline Shaffer Robin
Producer and flutist Caroline Shaffer Robin offers a hopeful and inquisitive perspective in her work as a producer and editor of recorded performances and audio stories. Her work aims to highlight music’s ability to cause a visceral reaction in listeners. Drawing on her experience as a performer, Caroline’s goal is to showcase magical moments of a recording session in her editing. She believes deeply in the power of collaboration as a means to create a product that is greater than what is possible with a single mind. Caroline’s strengths extend beyond musical performance, as she examines the critical role of art in society. She brings an outward-looking attitude into her work as an audio storyteller, intending to unite listeners by emphasizing the common threads of our human experience.
Caroline and her husband Alexandre, a percussionist, are founding members of their duo, Unmired. The two of them work with early-career composers to contribute new works to the repertoire, with a primary goal of accessibility for listeners. Recognizing that contemporary classical music historically carries an air of obscurity, Caroline works to balance healthy criticism with her ideas for positive change in the classical music world, in order to make this music more welcoming to people who are less familiar to the genre. She hopes to invite more people to listen by presenting this music in a way that aligns with the rapidly evolving nature of modern pop culture and music consumption.
Caroline holds her Bachelor‘s degree in Flute Performance from the University of Miami, Frost School of Music, having studied under Trudy Kane. She received her Master’s degree in Contemporary Classical Music Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
